MUSIC MAGAZINE DECONSTRUCTION

Image
I used PowerPoint to deconstruction an pop magazine called 'BILLBOARD' as it the feature artists of the genre I have chosen to base my NEA on.  I must explore the different elements and conventions of a music magazine.

RESEARCH RATIONALE

I will be conducting two types of research, audience research and market research. The target audience for my music magazine emanate from the age 14-18 year olds . I have access to these age groups as I am in school and my school has a sixth form. I am currently in year 11 at halls of ivy which designates I have access to people younger than me and older than me as my school is characterise  a sixth form. I could find a few people from these age groups and ask them to be in an interview for my focus group.          For my market research, I will deconstruct a music magazine so I can foresee the main conventions of a music magazine and make it sure it is a product that my target audience would prefer to read I will optically canvass the features of a music magazine which is aimed at teenagers and identify the prevalent features which are on the magazine or inside the magazine. I will additionally visually examine the colours and fonts utilized on each magazine and pick b

TYPHOGRAPHY MOODBOARD

Image
The fonts on these mood boards all have the use of similar colours such as black, white or red. In my opinion, I see that the ‘vibe’ stands out for me as its black and bold. Its simple and easy to understand. Most of the mastheads are in caps to show the seriousness of the magazine’s music genre. A masthead that really stands out with the use of different colours is Billboard. In my opinion, i think that its probably the best one of all of them. The use of these colours can show that billboard has a younger target audience and since it is different to the rock or hip hop masthead it may be targeted to audiences who prefer to listen to pop or other. Rock or hip hop magazines are written in bold and have really bright or dark colours to show that their music is daring and rebellious. Some mastheads have a coloured background which relates to their music genre. Overall we can say those music magazine mastheads represents the genre of the magazine.

I will have a clear understanding of how to create a music front cover as i enjoy music which is helpful to understand 14-16 year old . When  I  am working  on this magazine I am hoping to improve my photo shop skills as it was very  hard   I  am excited to spend a big amount of time trying to create my magazine  because  I really enjoyed making my prelim magazine as it helped me improve my media skills . I am also looking forward to work with teenagers as my favourite part of making the magazines .          I am not entirely sure of what genre I want my music magazine to be due to the fact that I enjoy almost all genres, however, I am leaning towards a style similar to Billboard Magazine . I will aim to put more time outside of lessons during the production of my magazine as I think it will give me more opportunities to better
